For the fourth successive time the Argentine women have won the Pan American Cup by defeating the USA women, who were also the opponents on all three previous occasions. Still the American runner-up had plenty to celebrate. Their silver medal secured them a place at the Rabobank Hockey World Cup. Argentina had already secured qualification during the semi-final of the Hockey World League in London.
