Malaysia men join the World Cup line-up

The Malaysian men have become the latest team to achieve qualification for the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014. Malaysia's World Cup ticket was guaranteed by Korea’s 4-3 triumph over India in the final of the men’s Asia Cup. All continental champions qualify automatically for the World Cup. Korea had already gained a place as first reserve, thanks to Argentina’s victory in the Pan American Cup. Second reserves Spain were confirmed for the event courtesy of Germany’s European title. This means that third reserves Malaysia, fifth at round three of the HWL, can now step in to fill the gap left by Korea.

Malaysia are the tenth men’s team to qualify for the Rabobank Hockey World Cup. Two more places up for grabs at the upcoming continental championships in Oceania and Africa.
