Los Leonos and Las Leonas – the Argentine men’s and women’s teams – are both in action during the first weekend of the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014. The women are reigning world champions and are going all out to defend their title. ‘I really hope we make the final and become champions again,’ says player Carla Rebecchi. Las Leonas have been in 13 previous World Cups and have won the title twice. They are currently second in the world rankings. All eyes will be on captain Lucian Aymar who is bowing out of international hockey during the tournament in The Hague.

The Argentine men’s team are also determined to reach the final. ‘We never give up and we fight on to the end,’ says captain Lucas Rey. ‘And that is exactly what we will do this time round.’ Los Leonas are currently 10th in the world rankings and have taken part in 11 previous World Cups.
