Both the Belgian men and women’s teams qualified for the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 and both will be in action on the first day of tournament on May 31. The women take on New Zealand while the men meet India. Both teams have been involved in four previous World Cups. Their best performance dates back to the 1978 World Cup in Madrid when the women won bronze. Player Tom Boon says the Red Lions’ have high hopes of this year’s event. ‘Our biggest challenge will be to beat Germany, hopefully in the final,’ he says.
