This is India

The Indian men’s team play their first match in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 on Saturday May 31 at 16.00 hours local time against the Red Lions of Belgium. Having lost to Belgium in the last three minutes of the Hockey World League in January, the Indians will be after revenge. This is their 13th World Cup and the team hope to recapture the golden age of Indian hockey in the early 1970s, which culminated in the title in1975. ‘We play attacking hockey and we have a team with a lot of youngsters who are training well. We are improving by the day,’ says captain Sardar Singh. ‘We are doing all we can to bring glory back to India.’ India is currently eighth in the world rankings.
