This is: South Africa!

The South African men and women’s teams both kick of their Rabobank Hockey World Cup campaigns on Sunday June 1. The men take on Olympic champions Germany on Sunday morning while the women play Argentina in the last match of the day. Both teams qualified for the World Cup by winning the African continental competition last November.

The South African women are currently 11th in the world rankings and hope in The Hague to improve on their best World Cup performance to date – seventh place in 1998.  The teams have taken part in four previous world championships. This is also the men’s fifth World Cup. They are currently 12th in the world rankings and their best previous World Cup performance was 10th place in 1994 and 2010.
