The women of New Zealand qualified for the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014, after a week of waiting. In the third round Hockey World League in London, Argentina finished third. The World Champion of 2012 beat China with 3-2 in the third-place-match. The first three teams of the third round Hockey World League tournaments qualify automatically for the World Cup. New Zealand is the beneficiary from this match, because an extra World Cup ticket is given to the best number four of both third rounds. New Zealand is the number four of Rotterdam, and higher ranked on the FIH World Ranking than the number four in London China.
