World Cup mascot Stockey will be introducing local primary school children to the different countries taking part in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup in a special way. Rather than attending formal lessons, between 2,000 and 3,000 local school children will spend the entire morning at the Kyocera complex, watching matches, playing hockey on the mini pitch in the Hockey Plaza or relaxing in the Kids’ Corner. They will also take part in different workshops to learn about the importance of healthy eating and how to make the most of their pocket money.
Every day, 800 children from the group will join Stockey on a ‘trip around the world’. They will play sports and games popular in different countries, take part in audi-visual quizzes and, of course, watch the teams in action. The complete programme is being kept secret for now, but a fun time for all is guaranteed.
All the pupils will also spend some time in the Westland Greenhouse finding out about food which not only tastes good, but is good for you as well. The children will all be given a box of healthy snacks to try for themselves.
The Stockey World Tour is by invitation only and the lucky schools have already been informed.
